No July 4th Film: Abilene’s Paramount Opens With ‘Legally Blonde
I'm looking for things to see and do this Independence Day weekend. Whether it's the celebrations in downtown Abilene or an "Independence Day" event on the Fourth of July, this year's July 4th festivities in Abilene have been moved to July 3rd and moved to Wylie High School's football stadium. So, I'm looking for a nice, cool place to sit and relax with my bride for a while.
This year, the Historic Paramount Theatre at 352 Cypress Street in downtown Abilene will be closed on the Fourth of July. However, the theater will be open on Friday, July 5th, and Saturday, July 6th, featuring its 31st Annual Summer Musical, "Legally Blonde: The Musical."
"Legally Blonde: The Musical" is a fun, award-winning musical based on the adored movie. It follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. Action-packed and exploding with memorable songs and dynamic dances, this musical is so much fun, that it should be illegal.
Elle appears to have it all. Her life is turned upside down when her boyfriend Warner dumps her so he can attend Harvard Law School. Determined to get him back, Elle ingeniously charms her way into the prestigious law school. While there, she struggles with peers, professors, and her ex. With the support of some new friends, though, Elle quickly realizes her potential and sets out to prove herself to the world.
Watching a performance under the star-covered ceiling of the air-conditioned Paramount Theatre is an experience like no other. With an ice-cold beverage in hand and a bag of Paramount's delicious popcorn, it's the perfect way to enjoy a summer evening.
Paramount Productions presents this delightful musical comedy as part of its classic film series. Tickets for "Legally Blonde: The Musical" are available at the Paramount Theatre box office located at 352 Cypress Street. Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $8 for students, seniors, military, and children.
For more information and to purchase tickets, please call the Paramount at 325-676-9620 or visit their website. Don't miss this entertaining and inspiring musical at one of Abilene's most cherished historic venues.
