It's now August and that means Back-to-School. Hard to believe it's right around the corner but school will start in about 3 week; August 27th for both Abilene & Wylie ISD. Everyone will need school supplies but sometimes money can be tight and folks could use a little help. That's where "stuff the bus" locations can provide some relief.

Many local stores are currently taking school supply donations. Most have donation boxes in the stores where you can drop your items. Others are taking cash donations that will be donated to the school district to provide needed supplies.

Tax-free weekend is an especially good time to pick up a few extra items to place in the boxes. Items such as pencils, crayons, scissors, pens, folders, wide rule notebook paper, rulers, highlighters, spirals and binders seem to be most needed.

Here are some locations that are participating in school supply donations:

United Supermarkets (4 locations in Abilene):

"Stuff the Bus" boxes are located at the front of each store.  Once you purchase the supplies just drop them in the box on your way out. Their campaign began August 1st and will continue through August 27th.

Wal-Mart (2 locations in Abilene):

I spoke with managers at both locations and boxes should be set up by Saturday, August 4th.  However, I was told if you don't see a box or you're there before Saturday, you can drop of your donations at the Customer Service Desk.

H-E-B:

H-E-B is also doing a "Stuff the Bus" drive but there's is a little different.  They have someone at the doors and also at the registers taking monetary donations of $1, $3 or $5 that will then be donated to the AISD.  Their campaign is currently underway and will continue for the next 30-60 days.

These are the locations I know of for sure in Abilene doing back to school donation campaigns. If you know of any others in or around Abilene please share in our comments area below.
