Boots and Bling: Fundraiser for Hospice of the Big Country

On Friday, September 6th, the Whiskey Rodeo nightclub will host a special fundraiser titled "Boots and Bling" in support of Hospice of the Big Country, a division of West Texas Rehab Center. The night promises to be a memorable one, featuring Jake Hooker and The Outsiders, a band that takes us on a musical journey back to the golden era of country music from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Doors open at 7 PM, and the talented Finis Smith will kick off the night as the opening act.

Jake Hooker, known for his authentic traditional country sound, draws inspiration from legendary artists such as Ray Price, Johnny Bush, Farron Young, Curtis Potter, Leon Rausch, and Darrell McCall. His performances evoke nostalgia for the timeless sounds that so many West Texans grew up with, making this event a perfect pairing with Hospice of the Big Country, which serves patients from similar backgrounds.

Jake's musical journey began at a young age. Growing up in West Texas, he was immersed in the traditional country music scene through his father's band. By the age of seven, Jake was mastering the honky-tonk sound on his bass guitar and forming his own band by the time he was 14. His dedication to his craft led him to perform around town and play full-time by the age of 18.

Wild Animals in Rehab

When we see an animal that has been hurt or is in distress it is in our nature to want to help but the reality is we need to leave it to the professional. Our job is to report it so that trained people can step in to assist the animal that needs help. Luckily there are many Animal Rehabilitators in the Hudson Valley who are good at what they do.
