Empowering Young Women: Inside Abilene’s Alliance For Women And Children
I am an enormous fan of The Alliance for Women and Children here in Abilene and I have been for a couple of decades. My youngest daughter attended their after-school program; there she learned how to be responsible for her own actions.
By the time my daughter turned 12, she had already learned so much that one day when I picked her up after work, my little princess asked if I knew how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). To which I responded, "Yes I think I do." She quickly replied, "Either you do or you don't, and you don't want to do it the wrong way because you could hurt someone, Dad."
She also went on to obtain her babysitter license. Today she is working towards her license to be a registered nurse. Thus the Alliance for Women and Children has a special place in my heart.
If you would like to support this organization, then make plans to attend their big fun fundraiser of the year. The Wine Women & Shoes Event will benefit the Alliance for Women and Children and the young ladies they inspire.
There will be wine tasting, designer shopping, Best in Shoe contest, a seated dinner, fun raffles, and a sensational fashion show. The Wine Women & Shoes event will take place at the 201 Mesquite Center on Thursday, April 18th, 2024 from 6 PM until 9:30 PM.
The Alliance for Women and Children at 1350 North 10th Street offers an after-school care program. For tickets or information contact the AWC at 325-677-5321.
