The Texas Bombers Fastpitch Softball is an organization that began in Texas in 2001 and has branched out to many different states across America. The Bombers Fastpitch Softball organization's primary goal is to develop young women into highly skilled athletes who can compete in the Bombers Junior Olympic Girls Softball Program.

Recently the Bombers Fastpitch program announced Olympic Athlete and fastpitch champion Cat Osterman as the new Director of Pitching Performance for the national Bombers program. Cat will be involved in the development of Bomber pitchers. Osterman will also aid in the development process to establish a direct link to college coaches. Thus, all Bombers will have access to scholarships from numerous colleges in the United States.

Currently, the Texas Bombers are hosting their softball tryouts on December 13th and 15th at the Bert Massey Sports Complex in Brownwood Texas. Coach Amanda Sheffield Says "these young athletes can come tryout to be on the Texas Bombers Team here in Brownwood. The tryouts are open to girls 18 years of age or younger."

When I spoke with Coach Sheffield she got me excited about the program because she spoke of all the incredible things the Bomber teammates do throughout the year. For example, the girls are always collecting food and clothing for the needy and underprivileged. The young Bombers will be ringing bells for the Salvation Army at some storefronts throughout west Texas.

The most important thing is that their worth is found in Christ

Furthermore, she said the girls were recently building 16 beds for children in our communities that do not have a foundation to sleep on. Sheffield says that the most important thing that the Bombers program can do is instill Christian values and she reminds athletes often that "their worth is found in Christ." Thus the connection the Texas Bombers have with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Coach Sheffield went on to say that, you do not have to attend both tryouts but they can if they want to. If you are unable to make it to tryouts or want more information please contact Amanda Sheffield at (325) 642-2382 or by email at ambweasel45@gmail.com.
