I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: while we’re giving thanks, we ought to be giving, too. Nobody in our community should have to go without a meal.

Mission Thanksgiving returns Friday, November 20, 2026, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Arrow Ford, 4001 South 1st Street in Abilene, just a few doors down from our radio station.

My friend Allison Alvarez has invited me and our Townsquare Media radio stations to participate, and I’m asking you to join us in supporting Love & Care Ministries.

Construction Won’t Stop Our Giving

Road construction near Arrow Ford means things will look a little different this year. But orange cones aren’t going to stop this community from caring for one another.

Allow yourself some extra time getting there, bring your generosity, and let’s keep those donations coming.

Your Pantry Can Help Feed a Neighbor

Nonperishable food is especially needed. Look through your pantry for unopened, unexpired items you can share. Want to buy groceries specifically to donate? Wonderful. Bringing what you already have? That matters, too.

These donations help Love & Care reach hungry families, elderly neighbors, people experiencing homelessness, and working folks struggling to make ends meet.

Whether you give $5 or $500, every dollar helps. Love & Care’s access to food below wholesale prices means donated money can stretch further to feed our neighbors.

Warm Clothing Makes a Difference

Please bring clean, wearable coats, shoes, boots, and warm clothing, along with blankets and sleeping bags. Socks and underwear should be new. Bottled water and travel-size hygiene products are also welcome.

You can give your time, too. Call 325-670-0246 for volunteer information.

I’ve watched the Big Country show up for this mission for years. Families, churches, businesses, and neighbors keep proving how much heart West Texas has.

Let’s make this our best Mission Thanksgiving yet. Whatever challenges stand in our way, we can still show up for one another.
