A Historic Milestone for Women in Leadership

As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, there's a lot to reflect on, especially when it comes to diversity and progress in America. For the first time in history, women now hold over 10% of Fortune 500 CEO positions—an impressive milestone. Additionally, WalletHub just released its 2024 report on the Most Diverse States in America, and the results are worth diving into.

Texas made the list, which was no surprise. However, what did surprise me was that Texas wasn’t ranked number one. California took the top spot, even as businesses and job opportunities have been flooding into the Lone Star State. For a detailed breakdown of WalletHub’s findings, click here.

What Diversity Really Means

Diversity goes beyond just race and ethnicity. WalletHub’s report looked at various factors, including economic, socioeconomic, household, cultural, political, and religious diversity. I find it fascinating, though not unexpected, that Texas, being a relatively conservative state, still ranks so highly. Religion undoubtedly plays a significant role here.

Why Texas Could Be Number One

I believe Texas could easily have claimed the number one spot, given the cultural richness, household dynamics, and socioeconomic status that have evolved, especially considering our unique border situation.

  1. California
  2. Texas
  3. Florida
  4. New Mexico

  9. Maryland
  10. Arizona

Texas Pride: More Than Just Diversity

Texas may not have topped the list, but we pride ourselves on being open-minded and freedom-loving. We cherish our families, communities, and churches, and let’s not forget—Texas is the only state with its own music genre. Yes, I love my "God Blessed Texas!"
