Schools Closed Tuesday Due to Dangerous West Texas Roads
Winter weather is creating extremely dangerous travel conditions across the Big Country and West Texas, and after being out on the roads myself, I can tell you firsthand, this is not the time to take chances.

Ice, sleet, and freezing temperatures have turned many roads into slick and unpredictable driving surfaces. Even if you are the safest driver in Texas, you cannot control the other vehicles around you. One icy bridge or one driver losing control can change everything in a split second.
Travel Is Strongly Discouraged
City, county, and state officials continue urging residents to stay home unless travel is absolutely necessary. While there have been short breaks in precipitation, temperatures are expected to drop again overnight. That means anything that melts during the day can quickly refreeze, creating even more hazardous conditions for the Tuesday morning commute.
Staying off the roads unless you truly need to be out also helps keep first responders safer as they handle weather-related incidents.

If You Don’t Have to Travel - Don’t
The best advice right now is simple: stay home, stay warm, and stay safe. Conditions can change quickly, and avoiding unnecessary travel helps protect you, your family, and emergency responders working to keep our communities safe.
