The Abilene Police Department Impound Facility has scheduled their auction of abandoned and wrecked vehicles with ReneBates.com. The auction is currently open for bids and the bidding will continue through Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at 2:00 pm. There are approximately 140 vehicles that are up for bids at this time.

The vehicles that are being auctioned off can only be viewed online. To view all the vehicles online go to the auction website ReneBates.com. The Abilene Police impound lot is located at 2349 Sandy St. in Abilene, located near the intersection of East Hwy 80 (aka Business 20) and loop 322 (one mile East of Judge Ely Blvd.)

I was informed that "most of the vehicles" I saw at the City of Abilene's Police Impound Facility that were in what I judged as in 'pretty good shape' had been abandoned. However a lot of the other vehicles that are being auctioned off had damage in accidents they were in. So, if you're needing a parts car, truck, van or SUV this may be the place to find it.

To sign up and start bidding you'll have to go to ReneBates.com and get preapproved for bidding. The auctioneers website has photos and details of the vehicles that are in this auction. To get further information please contact either Steven Hargis or Janice Holden at 325-676-6089 or via email at: impound@abilenetx.gov.

The auction website states:

All paperwork will be transferred to the successful bidder's name ONLY. Rene Bates Auctioneers, Inc., is the acting agent for the Seller and does not possess, cannot process and is not responsible for preparing or delivering title documentation to the winning bidder. The Seller, as posted at the top of the auction listing, will complete and provide all title documentation to the buyer. Rene Bates Auctioneers, Inc. is not the seller.

Any and all methods of lifting, towing, and hauling, as well as all other methods or requirements for the removal and transport of the materials, equipment and/or vehicles, is the sole responsibility of the buyer. The ownership of any and all items not removed by the final day of removal will revert back to the Seller and they may re-sell or dispose of the property as they see fit.
