The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department recently shared a beautiful video celebrating the launch of the state's 100th certified paddling trail, and while there's no narration, the message comes through loud and clear. Getting out on the water with family and friends creates memories that last a lifetime.

A Relaxing Texas Tradition

Whether you're paddling across a peaceful lake, floating down a lazy river, or exploring a quiet stretch of shoreline, paddleboarding has become one of the fastest-growing outdoor activities in Texas.

The newest addition to the Texas Paddling Trails program is in Palacios, where four new trails add nearly 20 miles of opportunities for paddling, fishing, birdwatching, and simply slowing down to enjoy nature.

West Texans Don't Have To Travel Far

One of the best parts is you don't have to drive across the state to enjoy paddleboarding. Several paddling destinations are within reach of West Texans, making it an easy weekend adventure for families looking to unplug from busy schedules.

My family has always enjoyed days on the water. While everyone else is paddling and making memories, you'll usually find me back on shore getting the barbecue pit fired up and making sure there's plenty of food waiting when everyone gets back. It has become one of those simple family traditions that everyone looks forward to.
