Join the Flamingo 5K and Fight Breast Cancer in Abilene
The men of Makona Fraternity at McMurry University are gearing up for the 2025 Flamingo 5K Walk/Run, a community-wide event raising funds for families battling breast cancer through Cancer Services Network (CSN) in Abilene.

When and Where
Mark your calendar for Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Wilford Moore Stadium on the McMurry University campus.
- Check-in: 9:30 a.m.
- Race Start: 10 a.m.
The route features two scenic laps through the McMurry campus, ending back at the stadium, complete with pink gear, cheers, and community spirit.
Why It Matters
Breast cancer continues to impact millions. As someone who’s watched family members on both sides fight this battle, I know how devastating that diagnosis can be. The Flamingo 5K gives us all a way to stand together, honor survivors, and help local families who need our support right now.
Last year’s event raised more than $2,000 for CSN. This year, Makona aims to top $3,000, and you can help make it happen.
