Why Texas Is Still My Favorite Road Trip State
I firmly believe that summer is road trip season, and my wife Donna and I are already planning a few getaways over the next several months.

Recently, Personal Finance Website WalletHub ranked Texas as the sixth-best state in America for summer road trips. The study looked at attractions, hotel prices, gas costs, road conditions, and other travel-related factors.
One thing that stood out to me was Texas's ranking No. 1 in the nation for attractions.
Texas Has Something For Everyone
That's one of the reasons Texas remains my favorite road trip state.
Whether you enjoy beaches, lakes, water parks, state parks, live music, shopping, or small-town adventures, you don't have to leave Texas to find it.
Over the years, my family and I have visited several destinations around the state. We've explored water parks in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, traveled through Central Texas, and spent countless hours discovering places we had never seen before.
My Favorite Texas Getaway
If I had to pick one destination that keeps bringing me back, it would be Moody Gardens in Galveston.
The famous pyramids first caught my attention years ago, but the family-friendly staff, atmosphere, pools, attractions, and relaxing environment are what keep me coming back.
Now, you won't catch this one-armed guy flying down a zip line, but you'll definitely find me floating in a lazy river or enjoying time with my family.
Make The Memories
The older I get, the more I realize road trips aren't really about the destination.
They're about spending time with the people you love.
So if you've been thinking about taking a summer getaway, my recommendation is simple: hit the road, enjoy some Texas sunshine, find a little water, and make some memories.
Summer won't last forever, but the memories will.
