Kentucky Hot Brown Bake – Shay’s Recipe of the Week
I found a recipe on Facebook that looked really good, at the least the picture did, so I decided to make it last night. It’s called a Kentucky Hot Brown Bake and honestly it was pretty dang good. The whole family enjoyed it. It’s a really simple recipe with only a few ingredients. When my kid will eat it, even the tomatoes, then it’s a pretty good recipe. So here it is give it a try for yourself.
- Turkey lunch meat (1 lb)
- Bacon slices (to taste)
- 2 lg. Tomatoes (sliced thin)
- 4 eggs beaten
- 8-10 slices Swiss Cheese
- 1 can Crescent Roll dough
First roll out your crescent dough and cut it in half and place one half in the bottom of a greased 8×10 dish. Then begin to layer your other ingredients. Layer 1/2 the lunch meat, bacon, your tomatoes and cheese. Then pour half of your beaten eggs.
Place another layer of the remaining ingredients, then cover with the other half of the dough and pour over the remainder of the egg.
Place in oven, covered, for about 15-20 minutes. Remove foil/cover and bake another 25-30 minutes, uncovered, until dough browns.
Cut and eat. You can serve with a side of jelly or other dishes like vegetables etc. This is also a recipe you can tweak to fit your tastes. I may, next time, use ham instead of turkey and maybe leave the tomatoes off. I’m learning it’s OK to be creative in the kitchen, you don’t always have to follow recipes to the tee!
