“Put On Your Combat Boots And Support The Troops” Started in Texas
The Put on Your Combat Boots and Support the Troops campaign was born in Texas. Part of a national initiative called the "Boot Campaign", the campaign’s motto is, “When They Come Back, We Give Back.” At Boot Campaign, the mission is to unite Americans to honor and restore the lives of veterans and military families through individualized, life-improving programs.
Proceeds from every pair of boots sold through the Boot Campaign go to charities that help military members and their families cope with physical injuries and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The Boot Campaign’s goal is to see one million Americans sporting a pair of “Give Back” boots. This campaign was started by five Texas women and a Texas veteran by the name Marcus Luttrell.
Marcus Luttrell is a retired United States Navy SEAL who received the Navy Cross and Purple Heart for his actions in June 2005 against Taliban fighters during Operation Red Wings in which he was the lone survivor.
Luttrell co-hosts After Action. Glenn Beck is the executive producer of the show, which airs on TheBlaze.
There are several ways every Texan and/or American can show their support for all our troops this May. The Marcus Luttrell "Boot Campaign" still sells boots online and all the profits go to the Boot Campaign 501C3 nonprofit charity for veterans and their families.
There's also the "Fitness Challenge" where one can make time to run, walk, hike, bike, swim or practice mindfulness in honor of our military during Military Appreciation Month. Then there's the "Host a Fundraiser" challenge. Consider a bake sale, backyard BBQ or pushup challenge as a simple way of activating the community to support their veterans and military families.
Remember, May is Military Appreciation Month. Try to say thanks in any way you can. See the video below as U.S. Marine Corps veteran Larry Hinkle shares a moment when he felt great appreciation for his service from a stranger as he walked across America.
