It's true, Texas cities are booming, and one town grew over 30% in a single year. Was that 'fastest-growing-town', in Texas? While the Lone Star State is leading the nation in population growth again, where are the hot spots?

Texas Tops the Nation in Fastest-Growing Cities

The latest data from the U.S. Census Bureau (released May 15, 2025) reveals what many Texans already knew, our state is growing fast, and some cities are exploding in size. Leading the nation is Princeton, Texas, a suburb of Dallas, with a jaw-dropping 30.6% growth rate from July 2023 to July 2024.

That means Princeton’s population shot up from 17,000 in 2020 to over 37,000 residents today. That’s more than doubling in just four years. The upside of this is more business and more jobs.

What About West Texas?

While none of the top 15 were in West Texas, the Big Country and Abilene will see growth in coming years as more people flee the high cost of living in big cities. Furthermore, with the AI expansion, and the growth at Dyess Air Force Base and Hendrick Hospital this means more job opportunities and Texas charm to spare, our region is growing as well.

Why Does This Matter?

Growth brings opportunity, more jobs, new businesses, and stronger economies. But it also brings challenges like infrastructure, housing, and school crowding. Keeping an eye on Texas' rapid expansion is key for local leaders and families planning their futures.
