You can try to end the year as a millionaire by attempting to win the latest Mega Millions lottery jackpot. Everyone knows I certainly will be in line buying my tickets at my favorite place to play. I've won more little itty-bitty prizes at that store. I won anywhere from $2 dollars to I think the largest prize I've ever won was $18 dollars (on a ticket that cost me $20).

Nonetheless, the store clerk seems to know when a winner is going to win the big jackpot because he's nailed it on the last four big lottery jackpots, even though I didn't win squat. I walk in and ask "Frank are we gonna have a winner tonight?" if he says yes, I tell him "I'll take 10 lines with the Mega-plier and cash pay-out." Now if he says "no big winner tonight" I only get a couple of lines all the way.

Since the beginning, a total of  ONLY 13 Texans have won what's known as the "Mega Millions Grand prize." They range from about $1 million or higher, that's including the two winners that won during this jackpot that's grown to over $785 million dollars. One was from Whitesboro and the other was from Round Rock they won a second-tier prize of $2 million and the other was $1 million.

The Mega Millions goes longer without winners because we have to choose five numbers from 1 to 70 and one Mega Ball number from the second field from 1 to 25. in order to win the Mega Millions jackpot, you have to match all six numbers AND the Mega Ball.

I don't know why Texans are least likely to win but when I get into that convenience store everyone's there to buy tickets. There are more winners in the northeastern U.S. than there are in the southern part of the country.

Since the very first Mega Millions lottery ticket was sold in 1992, there have only been 13 winners in Texas and ONLY-3 have been for the large jackpot. The actual fact of the matter is, New York has had 40 jackpot winners, then California with 33, next is New Jersey with 22, and Ohio has a total of 20 winners to date.

Nonetheless, I'll see you at the checkout trying to win the poor man's retirement plan. One final thought, by choosing the Mega-plier feature for $1 more per play, you can multiply a non-jackpot winning ticket by two, three, four, or five times, winning you as much as $5 million. Good luck call me if you win.
