The Teen Choice Awards will air on Fox TV August 7, 7:00 CT. Already the favorites are Taylor Swift, Lady Antebellum, Jason Aldean, The Band Perry, Rascal Flatts and Blake Shelton. They all got multiple nods and are up for different awards.

Taylor Swift was noticeably the one artist that showed up in multiple genres of music. Miss Swift is in the running with the likes of Lady Gaga, Rihanna, from The Voice Cee Lo Green and from the Disney Channels "Wizards of Waverly Place" Selena Gomez, aka Justin Bieber's girlfriend.

While you may not be the least bit interested in the "Teen Choice Awards", you can surprise the kids by knowing who is up for an award and who your kids are looking to for fashion advise and leadership. While I wouldn't want my kid going to a Gaga concert. I do want to know what the kids are doing and thinking and who is influencing them.

I was shocked (tic) to learn while researching for one of my earlier blogs, that Taylor Swift loves to watch some MTV shows one called "Teen Mom" and another called "16 and Pregnant". Some of these shows I don't want my 8 year-old ever watching, because frankly, they were shocking to me. Swift also enjoys shows like "Law & Order" and believes that she could be "best friends forever with the character Detective Olivia Benson.
