The Annual Fall Mayor’s Hike Is Saturday, December 5th
Fall is here and it's the perfect time to get out and take in the great outdoors. It's also time for the annual Mayor's Hike and it's happening Saturday, December 5, 2020 beginning at 9 a.m. Mayor Williams hosts the annual hike that treks along the Cedar Creek Waterway in south Abilene.
The three-mile hike kicks off in the 100 block of East South 11th Street, hiking northward towards Stevenson Park before returning to the starting line. The trek is a 3 mile hike.
Hike participation is free, and you're encouraged to bring your leashed dogs on this years hike. Hikers will need to bring their own drinking water and need to wear warm clothing for the hike.
Join our Mayor Anthony Williams for the 3-mile hike beginning at 9 am. This is a family friendly event that is open to everyone. Due to the terrain of the trail, NO flip-flops, sandals, strollers or bikes will be allowed on the hike trail. The hike will begin on the grassy area in the 100 block of E.S. 11th Street, near the intersection of Maple and East South 11th street.
All participants will hike northward along the banks of Cedar Creek making our way to Stevenson Park. Once there, hike participants will return using the same trail back to the starting line, all while practicing social distancing.
Parking will be available on East South 11th street and signs will direct you to the designated parking area. For more information please email parksandrec@abilenetx.gov.
