Abilene’s Day of Giving is May 4th 2021
The Community Foundation of Abilene joins in on the 'National Day of Giving' to raise donations for the 138 local non-profit organizations it supports. Abilene Gives "usually" begins at midnight on the "day of giving" and continues until midnight.
However, this year's day of giving started early and will continue beyond the May 4th day promoted. Just know that, the extra bonuses some of the non-profits might earn come from what they are able to raise on this special "Abilene Gives" day (24 hour period).
To donate, simply go to the AbileneGives.org website and donate online to the non-profit organization(s) of your choosing. This is a secure website and you can use debit or credit cards and a minimum $10 donation is required. If you'd rather, checks can be dropped off at the Community Foundation's office at 850 North 1st Street.
The above video features many of the non-profit organizations that will benefit from this years "Day of Giving." While last year was a very trying year for many businesses, it was even harder for all of our local non-profits that serve the very community that was shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Because the pandemic has cost local non-profits thousands of dollars in lost donations, and almost all of Abilene's charities did not or could not host their annual fundraisers. It is of the utmost importance that we all open up our hearts and give as generously as possible this year.
Last year the efforts of the Community Foundation of Abilene along with all it's non-profits were able to raise $1.3 million dollars collectively to help the struggling non-profits. While this year is looking better in comparison to the pandemic nearly all of the non-profit organizations are still struggling to get back to what was normal.
