The Abilene Salvation Army (ASA) is in dire need of not only money but volunteers too.  Community Development Director Lindsay Trook says "we desperately need volunteers to be bell-ringers, all you need is a smile and enthusiasm for ringing a bell next to the Salvation Army red kettle outside an Abilene retail store." If you have at least an hour or more to spare, contact the Salvation Army right away.

The Salvation Army of Abilene is the lifeline for thousands of people who benefit from the assistance the Salvation Army offers. There are a few job requirements one must be pass to be able to become a bell-ringer.

  • One must be able to stay outside for pronged prolonged periods of time.
  • You must be able to handle any type of weather including wind, rain, cold or snow.
  • You must possess a friendly smile a positive upbeat attitude.
  • One must be courteous and have a polite personality.
  • Most importantly one must be honest and dependable.

If this sounds like you and you meet the criteria, please call Dir. Lindsay Trook, she's looking forward to hearing from you. Now here are the other areas where Trook and the ASA desperately need volunteers. If the Mall life is more to your liking, the Angel Tree at the Mall of Abilene needs manning. If you are more the 'organized' type, then the distribution center at the Civic Center is where you belong (this is where all the gifts are put in order and are prepared for parent pick-ups on December 21 and 22). This Holiday season get in the giving spirit and give of your time to a very worth cause in our community the Salvation Army. Contact the Abilene Salvation Army today at (325)-677-1408, ask to speak with Community Development Dir. Lindsay Trook who heads this years volunteer drive. The Abilene Salvation Army is located at 1726 Butternut.

Now check out this video of some bell ringers who make it look fun!
