Summer Safety Camp at the Melvin Martin Center for Children's Safety (aka Safety City) was so successful last year that the Abilene Police Department added another camp to allow more kids to participate. This year's first camp is set for July 22 thru the 25th and the second camp is scheduled for August 5th thru the 8th, 2013. Officer Tracy Gates, Safety City Coordinator said "space is very limited, even though we have added a second camp I encourage parents to register their kids early."
I knew the minute the NOAA weather guys said that these storms are capable of producing winds up to 70 miles an hour that Abilene and the Big Country would be seeing some serious damage. When the storm was over I went out to see what was banging on the side of my house, that's when I noticed trees were up-rooted and shingles were spread out all over my yard. I looked around to see which neighbor lost their roof, only to discover those shingles were off of my house.

The duo Love and Theft is made up of Stephen Barker Liles and Eric Gunderson, both of which sing the lead vocals and play guitar. The last time we heard from this dynamic duo was in 2012, when they stalled out at No.38 on the charts with the song "Running Out Of Air." Prior to that It looked as if the guys were on top of the world with their No.1 hit song "Angel Eyes" and that was back in 2011. Today the boys are back using their tight harmonies on their newest song release "If You Ever Get Lonely."
Toby Keith just released details on his upcoming "Oklahoma Twister Relief Concert" to benefit everyone that was affected by the deadly tornadoes that hit Oklahoma in May. Toby won't be alone in this fundraising effort, he'll be joined by a host of superstar friends like Garth Brooks, Willie Nelson, Trisha Yearwood and Ronnie Dunn.
This weeks KEAN Critters, I affectionately call them the "Three Stooges." As for their names, let's say they are Moe, Larry, and Curly. They're a 9-month old Chocolate Lab, a two-year-old Yellow Lab and finally a two-year-old Black Lab. Each one has it's own unique personality. The Chocolate Lab was turned in because he chases chickens. To which I said "of course he chases chickens, that's because he's a bird dogs and that's what bird dogs do." The fact still remains these three are extremely lovable. All three can be found at the Abilene Animal Control Shelter.
"Drinks After Work" is Toby Keith's first release from the yet to be titled, forth coming album, due out the end of 2013. This song was written by his friends Luke Laird, Barry Dean and Natalie Hemby, which explains why this song sounds nothing like a typical Toby Keith tune. Don't get me wrong, this is one awesome song and I think it's the kind of change the Oklahoma native needs.
Roscoe Mud Bog organizers are getting down and dirty to raise money for Roscoe's Little League Association and the Roscoe High School Cheerleaders. Saturday July 6th, the Roscoe little league baseball field will be the location for the annual "Roscoe Plowboy Mud Bog." Mud Bog organizer Felix Pantoja said "last year with the radio stations help we had just under 2,000 attendees and participants in what has become the funnest event that Roscoe Texas has ever seen."
Flag Day is Friday, June 14th this year, and it's time to take a good look at old glory to make sure she's fit to fly. I just can't remember all the different holidays in which it's okay to fly the flag. I know there's the 4th of July, Flag Day, Veterans Day and Memorial Day. Blake Shelton has released a newer version of his latest chart topping country-rap song titled "Boys Round Here." What is different about this one? Blake is joined by a host of country music Super-Stars. While at first the song doesn't seem too different, see if you can recognize the different voices in the "Red, Red, Red, Red, Redneck" in the chorus of the song.
The new Nationwide Insurance commercial stars actress turned country singer Jana Kramer, as the "anti-burglar." The Nationwide's newest ad for their "Brand New Belongings" campaign has Kramer sneaking around in black leather replacing all the stolen belongings. Jana Kramer is also the voice behind the infamous jingle, singing "Nationwide Is On Your Side."
