The Little Baron’s Ball is a Fun Event for Childhood Cancer Survivors and Thier Families in Abilene

Thanks mainly to a anonymous donor who is fitting the bill for the 'First Annual Little Barons Ball' to be held at Prime Time Family Entertainment Center. Childhood cancer survivors 18 or younger are invited to attend an afternoon of fun, food, games, fellowship and a chance to hang out with others that share their plight. Jacque Thweatt Community Manager for the American Cancer Society (ACS) says "we are inviting mom, dad, brothers and sisters to come to the Little Batons Ball scheduled for this Sunday, September 9th.

The West Texas Fair and Rodeo is Coming to Abilene

 

The 2012 West Texas Fair and Rodeo begins Thursday, September 6th, with the traditional Sneak-a-Peak night and will run through Saturday, September 15th. This year fair goers can purchase a 'Seasons Pass' that's good for the duration of the Fair and Rodeo. Some crowd favorites are back this year, like the Tractor Pull competition, the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack show and of course all the entertainers on the Outdoor stage.

Texas Health Officials Blame Complacency for Outbreak of West Nile Virus [VIDEO]

It's been said, "the mosquitoes in Texas are the size chihuahuas" unlike the dog their bite is worse than their bark. Recently, Texas Tech researchers blamed complacency and apathy for the recent outbreak of West Nile virus in  the United States. Several cases were reported right here in the Lone star State and nationwide there has been 66 fatalities related to West Nile. "The virus is here and it appears it may have mutated" says Steve Presley a disease researcher at the Institute of Environmental and Human Health at Texas Tech University in Lubbock.
