Hocus Pocus Presto Whamo Poof! You’re A Roofer

I was sitting with my friend Tommy at his watering hole/restaurant. We were trying to solve the worlds problems, when out of nowhere Tommy says, "know what we need here in Abilene and the Big Country?" I said "no Tommy but I'm afraid you're gonna tell me". What came out of his mouth next didn't settle well with me cause I knew the problems it brings. He said "We need a good ole fashioned hail storm, the kind with golf ball to baseball sized hail, that!" he exclaimed "will put everyone back to work and put some money back into our local economy."  I swear as the good lord is watching over me pounding on these keys Tommy pushed a magical nonexistent button because 8 hours later that said storm hit us. Which brings me to my blogging topic.  "Where did all these roofers come from?"

I have neighbors that all of a sudden their P.O.V.'s now have a magnetic sign, boasting a roofing business of some kind that has been here for a gillion years, NOT!

Am I missing something here or does roofing a business or house require some kind of skill? Some of these folks couldn't mend their picket fence and you're going to let them work on your roof?  I have researched it (tic) and according to the latest numbers from the Dept. of Homeland Security these guys are banking! Insurance companies are going out assessing the damage and writing checks right there on the spot. Somehow I keep hearing my late mamas voice saying "A fool and his insurance check shall soon part" Buyer beware! or at least research and be careful.
