I Hate the Cold, Even My Freezer Is Too Much

For the record, I am NOT a cold weather fan. I hate the cold so much that I even hate reaching into my freezer for ice for my glass of tea, nuff said. Nonetheless, when the mercury started dropping this past week and the National Weather Service weatherman started saying temperatures would be sub-freezing, I knew we might be getting close to setting some new records. However, nothing could be further from the truth.

Texas Has Seen Colder Days, Much Colder

Texas has experienced some extreme cold events over the years, and this past week looked promising for record-setting temperatures. However, I didn’t realize just how cold the coldest temperature ever recorded in Texas was until I looked it up. We’ve had some bitter cold weather in Texas, and this past week wasn’t even close. Honestly, how people can live in places like Alaska or Canada is beyond me.

The Coldest Texas Temperatures Ever Recorded

For the record, Texas has experienced some severe, extreme, downright unbearable cold weather temperatures in the past. These numbers reflect the actual temperature and don’t even include the wind chill factor, which made things feel even colder.

Texas’ Coldest Wind Chill, A Bone-Chilling Reality

Imagine, if you will, hitting a rock-bottom temperature of -23°F. Now, throw in a brutal wind chill that drops it another 15 degrees colder, making it feel like -38°F. Texas has had some mind-numbing record-low temperatures across various cities and counties.
