Celebrate Fall With Food, Fun, Family, Wine, and Music in Texas
When the West Texas heat begins to finally cool down, if you are like me you are looking for those awesome, fun festivals that come to life in the Lone Star State. With the West Texas Fair and rodeo kicking off this week, to the GrapeFest wine festival, the German beer halls, medieval jousting fields, and more, Fall is the season the Lone Star State seems to come to life. Here are four of the biggest events happening this year. And YES, I, Rudy “Fearless” Fernandez, try to attend as many as possible every year.

The State Fair of Texas in Dallas
The State Fair is the largest event of its kind in Texas, and it runs from September 26 through October 19, 2025, in Dallas. Visitors can enjoy daily parades, concerts, livestock shows, creative arts contests, and the always-popular auto show. And of course, it wouldn’t be the State Fair without outrageous fried foods that make headlines every year.
Grapefest in Grapevine
North Texas is home to one of the state’s most popular wine events, Grapefest. From September 11 through 14, 2025, downtown Grapevine fills with wine tastings, grape stomping competitions, live music, and family-friendly activities. It’s the largest wine festival in the Southwest, making it a fall tradition worth raising a glass to.
Wurstfest in New Braunfels
What started as a one-day sausage celebration in 1961 has grown into a ten-day salute to German culture. The 64th annual Wurstfest runs November 7 through November 16, 2025, featuring Bavarian music, endless German food, beer, and even an accordion contest. It’s one of Texas’s quirkiest and most beloved traditions.
The Texas Renaissance Festival in Todd Mission
For a trip back in time, the Texas Renaissance Festival in Todd Mission (just north of Houston, near Navasota) is the nation’s largest Renaissance event. It returns October 11 through November 30, 2025, with themed weekends like Pirate Adventure, Heroes & Villains, and Celtic Christmas. Expect jousting tournaments, turkey legs, mead, and colorful costumes spread across hundreds of acres.

Why These Festivals Belong on Your Calendar
Texas doesn’t just mark the change of seasons; we celebrate it on a Texas-sized scale. Whether you’re here for fried fair food, fine wine, sausage and steins, or a medieval adventure, these four festivals define fall in Texas.
