The Taylor County History Center volunteers will be hosting special tours for military families throughout the day. The tours will take place at the Taylor County History Center at 133 William St. in Buffalo Gap.
The Taylor County History Center / Buffalo Gap Historic Village is home to a wide array of historical buildings and artifacts that are all part of Taylor County's history. Like the original 1879 structure that housed both the Taylor County courthouse and jail. Plus there's the original post office, railroad depot, school, church, bank, doctor's office, barbershop, a print shop, and a few homes.
The stories of these buildings and the early settlers that built and/or occupied them will keep you engaged to learn all about our West Texas history. Then there are those stories about certain buildings where strange things happen and the possibility that their original inhabitants may still be inhabiting them in spirit.
The center will be open from 9 am until 5 pm. However, the free admission is from 10 am till 5 pm for military personnel and their families. Get more information by contacting the TCHC at (325) 572-3365.
Taylor County History Center's regular hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm and general admission is $7 per adult, $6 for seniors and military, and $4 for students.
