"It will be stamped in my memory, of course, for the rest of my life," guitarist Rickey Medlocke says of Skynyrd's final show in the band's hometown of Jacksonville, Fla., which was taped for a live concert film.

The new song revisits the infamous 1977 plane crash that killed several Skynyrd bandmates, including Ronnie Van Zant.

According to a press release, the honor "is presented to songwriters who have distinctly and profoundly influenced the entertainment industry."

Lynyrd Skynyrd are headed to the silver screen this fall.

Two upcoming shows have been postponed.

A judge has overturned a previous ruling, thereby allowing 'Street Survivors: The True Story of the Lynyrd Skynyrd Plane Crash' to proceed with filming.
