The oldest remaining business in Abilene since 1881 is being destroyed. The Abilene Reporter-News building will be no more after Wednesday of this week.
The first week Abilene became a city, one of Abilene's founders established his first business that quickly became two businesses that are still in business today.

So, I was surfing the web this morning when I landed on the Abilene Reporter News website. I saw a story that I wanted to comment on, and was surprised to find out I couldn't because I was not a paid subscriber. Apparently, ARN is now charging for their digital service.
The Readers Choice Awards were revealed to the winners and runners-up on Thursday June 21st. Although I knew then, that KEAN 105 was voted best radio station in West Texas, I had to keep it a secret until Sunday June 24th. That is when a special edition of the news paper is printed and all the results are released to the public.
