Jerrins Hope Car Show Raises Fentanyl Awareness In Abilene This August
West Texas Comes Together to Fight Fentanyl at Octane Overdose
There are some events I promote because they look like fun. Then there are events I believe in with all my heart. Jerrin’s Hope Octane Overdose Car Show and Festival is one of those.

On Saturday, August 29, 2026, Jerrin’s Hope is bringing its Octane Overdose Car Show and Festival inside the Abilene Convention Center, and the mission goes far beyond showcasing incredible automobiles.
One hundred percent of the event proceeds will be used by Jerrin’s Hope in its fight against fentanyl.
Fentanyl Has Hit West Texas Families Hard
This isn't somebody else's problem happening somewhere far away.
Federal officials reported that from January 1 through September 11, 2024, Abilene experienced 41 overdoses, nine of them fatal. The victims ranged from only 13 years old to 72.
Texas health officials say drug-poisoning deaths statewide increased 68% between 2019 and 2024.
And fentanyl continues to make its way into West Texas. In July 2026, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized 22.4 kilograms of fentanyl at the Presidio Port of Entry. Earlier in 2026, CBP also reported a major narcotics seizure at El Paso's Paso del Norte Port of Entry that included fentanyl.
The DEA warns that illicit fentanyl can also be hidden in counterfeit pills, meaning someone may not even realize fentanyl is what they're taking.
That's why awareness matters.
This Fight Is Personal to Me
When medicine is necessary, that's something I believe should be between you and your doctor. But when it comes to illegal drugs and deadly fentanyl, I believe we have to stand together and fight back.
I've watched too many parents suffer after losing a child who had an entire future ahead of them. Jerrin was one of those young people whose life ended far too soon because of fentanyl.
I've supported Jerrin's Hope before, including broadcasting live from one of their earlier car shows, because I believe this is something all of West Texas needs to get behind.
Rev Up the Engines and Help Fight Fentanyl
Octane Overdose runs from noon until 6 p.m. Saturday, August 29, inside the Abilene Convention Center at 1100 North 6th Street.
The show is open to classics, hot rods, muscle cars, lowriders, custom cars, trucks, motorcycles and more, with outstanding vehicles expected from Texas and across the South.
Tickets are $10 for adults, and children 12 and younger get in free with a paying adult. Vehicle owners can also preregister before event-day registration prices increase.
The event is also part of the 2026 WeGO Tour.
Come admire the cars, enjoy the festival and, more importantly, help a West Texas organization continue fighting something that has already taken far too many lives.
We are the fuel that fights fentanyl. Together, we can drive out fentanyl and bring hope to our community.
