As the best-selling duo of all time, Brooks & Dunn has seen its share of accolades, awards and attention. But in an interview with Bobby Bones earlier this month (Feb. 8), Ronnie Dunn reflected on a time when all of that attention started becoming overwhelming, especially when out on the road.

“There was a time when it was growing to a point where you would get on the bus and the door would open and shut every 15 minutes,” recalls Dunn. “Someone would be like ‘Hey, man, we need more lights,’ or ‘What do you think about adding more monitors.’ That’s the most strenuous part, I think, just dealing with the day-to-day.”

Indeed, it was at that time when Brooks & Dunn began to worry about much more than just the music they were putting out.

“It was like ‘God, I hope we’re not going to step out there and not have enough equipment,” says Dunn. “That was kind of out of our wheelhouse. I just want to sing and write songs, and it was then that we were like, ‘There is a little more to it than that.’”

Of course, those often-uncertain moments are now in the past, as the country duo is roaring into 2019 with their new collaboration project Reboot, which is set for release on April 5. The project includes remakes of some of Brooks & Dunn’s biggest hits with the help of country artists such as Kane Brown, Kacey Musgraves, Ashley McBryde, Luke Combs and Thomas Rhett.
