Rob Mayes, ‘We’ll See’ [Exclusive Premiere]

Singer-songwriter and actor Rob Mayes takes a glass-half-full view of the world in his new song "We'll See." The track is debuting exclusively on The Boot; press play above to listen.

Written by Mayes with Smith Curry (who also produced the track and plays dobro) and Lauren Weintraub, "We'll See" was inspired by a Chinese fable about an old farmer and his horse that has gone missing, which resonated with Mayes. Its lyrics, like the fable itself, remind listeners that sometimes, the tough parts of life are blessings in disguise.

"Hope for the best, pray for the better, plan for the worst / Hell or high water," Mayes sings in the song's chorus. "Why do we curse the time we try to borrow? / 'Cause we can't rehearse what comes tomorrow / Lord, help me trust the powers that be / We'll see."

“The song is about hope and faith," Mayes tells The Boot, "and I think that there must have been some sort of spirit running through me, through the three of us, that allowed us to simply bring the song to life."

A regular on the ABC television series Mistresses and a star of the cult classic movie John Dies at the End, Mayes has also appeared on 90210 and in the Lifetime movie The Client List, among many others. The Cleveland, Ohio, native recently wrapped up filming Soldier's Heart, a Western film that also stars Val Kilmer, AnnaLynne McCord and Jake Busey.
