The Meaning Behind the Name

Furthermore, we should all be proud of Taylor County for how it got its name, do you know?

Taylor County, Texas, is named after three brothers, Edward, James, and George Taylor, who died defending the Alamo during the Texas Revolution. The county was established in 1858 from land formerly belonging to Bexar and Travis counties, according to the Texas State Historical Association. While the county was created in 1858, it wasn't officially organized until 1878 due to low population and the Civil War.
