Trending Question: Is Goofy A Dog Or A Cow?

First of all, I have never wondered this until today when I saw a Facebook meme that said Goofy was a cow. If you look at Goofy he doesn't look like a cow, he looks like a dog! His girlfriend is a cow, so is he?

I did what everyone else does when they want to know something, I googled it.  According to Google and Wikipedia: 

Goofy is an American cartoon character created by the Walt Disney Company. He is a tall, anthropomorphic dog who typically wears a turtle neck and vest, with pants, shoes, white gloves, and a tall hat originally designed as a rumpled fedora.

So what is an anthropomorphic dog?

According to the American Kennel Club, an anthropomorphic dog is: “Anthropomorphism is the use of human characteristics to describe or explain nonhuman animals.”

People often confuse Goofy with being a cow because his on-again, off-again girlfriend is Clarabelle Cow. This assumption can be from the fact that Walt Disney put two of the same species together like Mickey and Minnie and Donald and Daisy. People then decided that because Goofy's girlfriend was a cow, he was too. But if you look at goofy he has the characteristics of a black and tan coon hound. He has long years and his coloring around his nose.

So is Pluto a dog too?

Yes, pluto is a regular dog! He is a bloodhound and is a pet that walks on all fours and does not talk.  Pluto is not anthropomorphic because he doesn't have human characteristics.

That had me thrown for a minute, people trying to tell me Goofy was a cow.
