AAA Texas Reports Gas Prices Climbing Again Statewide

Here we go again! Just when we thought we were on a downward trend with gas prices dropping, even during the 4th of July weekend, that streak has come to an end. The downward trend has stalled, and gas prices have jumped again. Texans need to brace for higher prices.

According to AAA Texas, the average price of unleaded regular gas per gallon in Texas is now $3.41. That is a 7-cent jump from the previous week. The cheapest gas in Texas right now is in Tyler at $3.29 per gallon. El Paso holds strong again as the most expensive, teetering near $4 at $3.91 per gallon.

Lubbock: $3.45 - Last week: $3.26 - up 19 cents from last week
Midland: $3.48 - Last week: $3.47 - up 1 cent from last week
Tyler: $3.29 - Last week: $3.26 - up 3 cents from last week
Abilene: $3.35 - Last week: $3.46 - down 11 cents from last week
El Paso: $3.91 - Last week: $3.60 - up 31 cents from last week

The national average this week is $3.84.

Last week, oil prices were near $78 per barrel. According to OilPrice.com, the cost of Brent Crude is $76.58 per barrel, while WTI Crude is at $72.09 per barrel. Neither of those is a huge jump, but we'll have to wait to see what next week brings.
