Due to the recent winter storm, many animals were dropped off by their owners and or picked up by the Abilene Animal Shelter officers as strays running the snow covered streets of Abilene. Add to that the most recent "animal hoarding" cases that the Abilene Animal Shelter Officers discovered, the shelter is over capacity again.

Director of the Abilene Animal Services Shelter, Mike Bricker says, "in times like these we get so many beautiful pets coming in, many are the most sought after breeds too. With the two biggest hording cases we just worked, we picked so many awesome dogs and puppies."

Bricker reminds us that donations of blankets, towels and food are always appreciated. The towels and blankets gives each dog a chance to have something soft to sleep on. Donations are accepted at the shelter at 925 South 25th during business hours."

The pets that are available for adoption are only $10 each. All the dogs that are currently cleared for immediate adoption will come completely: flea and tick dipped, microchipped, all vaccinations and spay or neuter vouchers. If you can provide a loving home for any of these adorable fur babies, then all that is needed to adopt is to be 18 years of age or older.

The photo's below are actual photos of a few of the dogs that are available for adoption as 3/17/2021. Hurry as these fur babies don't have much time left and they really need us now. Notice that one dog (named Kit Kat) has been at the shelter for over 144 days.

If you can foster one of these adorable pets then drop by the shelter to get signed up to foster a pet until space becomes available at the shelter. The Animal Services Shelter is at 925 South 25th Street in Abilene and is open Monday through Saturday from 11 AM until 2 PM and 3 PM - 6 PM. The shelter closes between 2 to 3 pm daily to clean the kennels and feed the animals. The shelter is not open on Sunday.
