Stay Safe on the Road: The Urgent Takata Airbag Recall You Can’t Ignore

It's bad enough when we are driving around West Texas we are having to be on high alert for those dangerous distracted drivers. Well, now we have to worry about the equipment in our vehicles hurting us or even killing us. What? Yes, something in our vehicles that is meant to save our lives is faulty and could hurt us and it's right there in front of you. Yep, it's the Takata Airbags that auto inflate when you're in a crash.

The "Takata airbags" are a serious threat the "original recall went out in late 2019" and a lot of the vehicles with these airbags still need to be addressed and the problem fixed. The threat is so serious that some in the National Highway Traffic Safety (NHTSA) Administration are advising owners of one of the vehicles (that hasn't been fixed) and still has faulty airbags are being told "DO NOT Drive That Car." The Takata airbag recall is not just another run-of-the-mill notice, it’s a life-or-death situation. Here's the shocking part, there are tens of millions of vehicles across America are that have the affected equipment.

The problem with the Takata Airbags is that they were fine when they were brand new. However, when the Summer heat and the winter cold over the past several years has  affected the way the airbags are supposed to operate. Furthermore, research proved that long-term exposure to high heat can turn these airbags into ticking...wait for it...wait for it...ticking time bombs. When they deploy, they can explode with dangerous force, putting you, your loved ones, and even other motorists at risk of severe injury or worse death.

Why This Matters

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is urging everyone to make the time to double check and make sure the issue has been addressed. A lot of these defective airbags have already been replaced, but just to make sure the they don't cause anymore injuries or deaths, please get your vehicle checked out. Tragedies can be avoided by taking that extra step. The fault lies in the airbags’ inflators, which deteriorate over time. If you are like me I looked at the list, and my heart dropped when I saw my wife's car listed. Please, do not put it off, check out the recall list below and ignoring it is very dangerous. Drive safe.
