Baird’s Big Time Boo Bash Gave Us a Texas Night of Memories
Some nights remind me why I love getting out into the Big Country, sharing music and making memories with our neighbors. The Big Time Boo Bash in downtown Baird, Texas, on Halloween night was one of those nights.

Donna joined me, and we enjoyed an evening of music, food, fellowship, and weather that almost felt specially ordered.
After rain through much of the week, it was like God opened up the skies and gave us a beautiful, moonlit evening. Temperatures in the mid-70s made being outside near Baird s railway station an absolute pleasure.
Austin Allsup Got the Music Started
I had the honor of being the first to jump onstage and introduce Austin Allsup, the founder, promoter, and driving force behind the Big Time Boo Bash.
Austin opened the evening, then introduced his sister, Allie Allsup, followed by Sawyer June. Later, I returned to introduce No Justice. A recorded introduction helped bring The Great Divide to the stage, and the music made an already wonderful night even better.
Being part of those introductions put me right where I love to be: helping connect artists with the folks who came to hear them.
A Family Connection to Music History
Some folks may not know that Austin's father was the late, great guitarist and producer Tommy Allsup. His work included recording and touring with Buddy Holly and producing music for Bob Wills, giving the Allsup name a remarkable place in rock n roll and Western swing history.
Watching Austin bring people together through music in downtown Baird gave that family connection a special meaning for me.
Downtown Baird Helped Make the Evening
The stage was only part of what made the night memorable. Shops and restaurants stayed open, food trucks served hungry concertgoers, and vendors added to the fun.
Donna enjoyed the music, the food, and the atmosphere right along with me. It was a chance to spend time together while celebrating a community that knows how to welcome people.
After spending some time visiting with Austin, I'm excited about the possibility of doing more shows together.
