Carrie Underwood Visits With Kids at Boston Children’s Hospital
Carrie Underwood made a special visit to the Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Mass. on Tuesday (July 31) as part of the Country Music Healing Tour, which gives country music’s top superstars the opportunity to visit with the hospital’s young patients.
Sponsored by WKLB Boston and the Floating Hospital, the ‘Blown Away’ singer’s time was spent chatting with patients and their families in the medical and surgical units, as well as the pediatric bone marrow transplant.
While she was there, Underwood graciously gave away autographed CDs, and even treated her young fans to a performance of ‘Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star,’ as requested by a two-year-old patient.
“We are so grateful to Carrie for partnering with us to bring this one-of-a-kind experience to the children and families at Floating Hospitbal,” WKLB PD Mike Brophey gushed (quote via All Access). “This is a very special opportunity for us to participate in a small way in the healing process of the hospital’s pediatric patients, and the generosity of Country performers like Carrie Underwood is what makes it possible.”
Underwood’s visit to the hospital is just one of many philanthropic endeavors from giving superstar. In 2008, the Oklahoma native formed her C.A.T.S (Checotah Animal Town and Schools) hometown initiative, which has donated much-needed funds to local schools and animal shelters since its inception. The vegan superstar is also an avid supporter of animal rights.
