Trunk or Treat With Abilene’s Heroes
A Safe, Spooktacular Night of Fun for the Whole Family
It’s that time of year again, when Abilene’s finest turn their patrol lights into Halloween lights! The Abilene Police Department (APD) invites families to its annual Trunk or Treat on Thursday, October 30, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at 4565 South First Street. Every year I’ve been out there broadcasting live, and trust me, it’s a spooktacular evening you don’t want to miss.

Meet the Real-Life Heroes Behind the Costumes
APD officers, firefighters, first responders, and local businesses will all line the parking lot with decorated trunks loaded with candy. It’s a safe, fun way for kids to enjoy Halloween and for families to meet the men and women who protect our city. My friends at APD tell me they’re planning even more fun this year, so expect big smiles, sweet treats, and plenty of photo ops with our local heroes.
Safety, Costumes, and Candy Galore
This family-friendly event is completely free and open to everyone. Kids are encouraged to wear their best costumes, and parents, feel free to join in the fun too! Remember to bring a flashlight or wear reflective clothing, as it gets dark during the event. Every child must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for safety.
Join the Community and Make Memories
Events like this remind us that Abilene is more than a town, it’s a family. So bring the kids, grab your candy bag, and come spend the evening celebrating with our heroes in blue and red. I’ll see you there with the Abilene Police Department and Fire Department for another year of laughter, lights, and community spirit.

Meet Abilene’s First Responders
My friends Lindsey Hoxsey (APD Dispatch) and Rick Tomlin (APD’s Public Information Coordinator) say, "This is a kid-friendly event, and everyone in the community is invited." So, come out and meet the men and women who keep our city safe, show off those costumes, and make some great memories. Whether you're in it for the candy, the costumes, or the chance to dunk a local hero, this is an event you won’t want to miss.
Celebrate Halloween As A Community Group
So, mark your calendars, and I'll see you there, alongside the Abilene Police Department, Fire Department, and all our amazing first responders who are looking forward to meeting you and the kids. Let’s celebrate Halloween together in the best (and safest) way possible at 4565 South First Street.
