The vehicles that are being auctioned off can be viewed online and online only. To view all the auction items online go to the auction website ReneBates.com. The Abilene Police impound lot is located at 2349 Sandy Street in Abilene, located near the intersection of East Hwy 80 (aka Business 20) and loop 322 (one mile East of Judge Ely Blvd.)

I was informed that "most of the vehicles" I saw at the City of Abilene's Police Impound Facility that were in what I judged as 'pretty good shape' many had been abandoned. However, a lot of the other vehicles that are being auctioned off had damage in crashes they were in. So, if you're needing a part for a car, truck, van, or SUV this may be the place to be.

To sign up and start bidding you'll have to go to ReneBates.com and get preapproved for bidding. The auctioneer's website has photos and details of the vehicles that are in this auction. To get further information please contact either Steven Hargis or Janice Holden at 325-676-6089 or by email at impound@abilenetx.gov.

The Abilene Police  Department would love to clear the APD Impound Facility. Furthermore, removal of the vehicles once the auction is over will be by appointment only, Monday through Friday from 9 AM till 4 PM and there will be no assistance with removal of the vehicles. All items must be removed by no later than Wednesday, March 3rd, 2023. any vehicles left in the impound lot will pay a $25 per day, per item storage fee will be charged to the buyer.

If you are sending a third party or transport company to remove the items they must bring a completed Authorization of Release form. For all the bidding instructions and auction, guidelines check out the Rene Bates Auction website.
