Abilene Police Department Now Hiring: Secure Your Future In Law Enforcement
The Abilene Police Department (APD) is at it again, they are looking for good, strong, and eager police recruits. The application recruiting process will continue to run through Sunday, April 21, 2024. The academy is set to begin on Monday, October 7th, 2024.
Applications can be electronically submitted to the Abilene Police Department's website abilenepolice.org or abilenetx.gov. All applications will be kept totally confidential. I would love to be one of Abilene's finest, however, I'm a little shorthanded and I will not make it through the screening process because of my birth defect.
If you are interested and you can make it through the screening process you should apply right now. Some of the pre-screening requirements I will list below as there are a few restrictions I learned about from Cati Wolfe, Recruitment Officer, and while some are what I call "duh-obvious" like you have to be a U.S. Citizen and at least 21 years old, and so on.
You are strongly encouraged to apply as starting pay is right at $73,267. Now, when you complete the Abilene Police Academy and you receive your reclassification, your income could jump as high as $93,527 and includes all their awesome benefits like
paid time off (PTO), insurance, retirement, and lots more.
Before proceeding, several prerequisites must be met:
- Has graduated from high school or completed this GED
- Successfully pass a Civil Service Exam
- Can fluently read, write, and speak the English language
- Excellent health and physical condition
- Possess a valid Texas driver's license.
- Has never been convicted of a felony
- Has not been discharged from the military with a less-than-honorable discharge.
