Electric Vehicles, or EVs, have a lot of things going against them, but it looks like the US government is going to force everyone to use them anyway. The biggest problem with EVs is that they can only make it 300 or so miles on one charge.

In Texas, that is just not going to work. Dallas is probably the closest major metropolitan area to Lubbock, and it is 300 miles just to get there. If you want to drive further, what can you do?

Fortunately, a new startup company is working on this with amazing results. The company is Our Next Energy, or ONE, and they have been able to almost double the battery life of a Tesla S.

Business Insider wrote: "Our Next Energy (ONE), a Michigan startup, fitted a 2021 Tesla Model S with its own experimental battery... The prototype battery completed a 752-mile road trip in the dead of winter without stopping to recharge once." This new battery could get you to Dallas and back on a single charge. The CEO of ONE said, "We want to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles by eliminating range anxiety, which holds back most consumers today."

This is a major step in the right direction for the EV market. ONE said that their battery holds about twice the charge of the normal battery and is twice as dense. Now the question is, how long does it take to charge? That's the second reason people are worried about getting an electric car.

I'm not sure if electric is the best way to go, but at least it is finally moving in a direction that could make sense for more Texans.
