For many people, the crowds, lights, and chaos of the West Texas Fair & Rodeo is an exciting part of the experience, just like Aggie Fries or cotton candy. This isn’t true for all visitors, however, and the 2021 West Texas Fair & Rodeo’s newest event aims to bring fair fun and rodeo excitement to all.

Part of this event features the Allsup’s Exotic Animal and Sensory Building, located this year in the Big Country Hall, which is handicap accessible. Rafter J Exceptional Rodeos and Mechanical Bulls will be on-hand for guests to encounter miniature horses, llamas, chickens, turkeys, rabbits, and fainting goats, as well as fun rodeo activities in an approachable, sensory-friendly environment. The Exotic Animal and Sensory Building will be open for the duration of the Fair & Rodeo.

The West Texas Fair & Rodeo will also be stepping up with the new Inclusive Event for Guest With Special Needs on Tuesday, September 14. Both Allsup’s Exotic Animal and Sensory Building and Carnival Americana will be open from 3-5 PM exclusively for guests with special needs to enjoy the Fair without overwhelming crowds, lights, and sounds. The Creative Arts Buildings, commercial vendors, and food booths will also be open during this time. Guests can look forward to the Bubble Gum Contest at 4 PM, Pig Races at 4:15 PM, and Chef Darlene in the H-E-B Spotlight Kitchen at 4:30 PM.

Admission to the fairgrounds will be charged for guests who arrive after 4 PM. Carnival tickets must also be purchased separately. Click here to find out what’s coming to the 2021 West Texas Fair & Rodeo, or to purchase grounds admission, rodeo tickets, armbands, and more
