March 21, 2013 I'm on the fence with technology sometimes; it can be great and time saving but it can also put people out of jobs. Take for example this new idea that Wal-Mart is trying in about 200 of it's more than 4000 stores. It's called Scan & Go and it allows you to use your iPhone to scan your purchases as you go and simply pay when you leave. However, I have a feeling that it will eliminate peoples jobs too.
December 17, 2012 We've all gotten the "People of Wal-Mart" emails with the pictures of all the strange and interesting things you will see at Wal-Mart. I even look for Wal-Mart moments now when I shop. I also watch what I wear out so I don't end up in one of the photos!
December 16, 2012 As the Holidays approach, I find myself having to go to Wal-Mart. While going there is not the worst part, being subjected to other peoples definitions of fashion and style. The last time I posted a similar blog, it was with the music video 'Wal-Martians.' This time it's Jessica Frech with her song 'People of Wal-Mart 2.' I'll have to caution you, there are real pictures of people of Wal-Mart.

Wal-Mart can drive anyone over the edge. It’s a huge place with lots of noise, sometimes surly employees, and always surly customers. On the other hand, Jacquetta Simmons let it get to her a little too much and she could spend seven years in jail because of it.
November 11, 2011 It's typical for stores to open early on Black Friday, the name given to the biggest shopping day of the year, the day after Thanksgiving. But it seems it's getting earlier and earlier and this year it's even gone so far as to stores opening on Thanksgiving Day itself. Retailers are trying to make up for lost sales this year by opening earlier and staying open later to do it.
October 18, 2011 I remember my parents putting stuff on lay-a-way all the time when I was a kid. It wasn't just a financial move either, if it wasn't in the house my brother and I couldn't find it(mean parents)! A lot of stores over the years have done away with lay-a-way programs, except K-Mart but it seems this season may be different. A number of stores are bringing back the program for Christmas purchases.
