As I got everyone pumped up to go on the Rudy Cruise, I planned a little surprise for a good deal of the Cruisers. We'd make one final dash to the the waterparks. I couldn't have planned it any better, because last weekend when we got into Galveston, the waterparks were closing down for the winter season. You'd think with Galveston being on the coast that at least Schlitterbahn would be open year round, right? Well it is.

I've often said that "Galveston is the Lone State States little Hawaii and one of my favorite spots in Texas." As if I ever needed an excuse to go to Galveston for some R&R, this weekend is an awesome weekend to be on the seawall in Galveston, because the new 'Pleasure Pier' theme park opens this weekend. The annual sandcastle competition and festival in Galveston was this past weekend. A Houston engineering firm proved you can “Have Your Sandcastle and Eat it Too”. The phrase was the title of their “Golden Bucket” award-winning sandcastle design at the 25th annual AIA Sandcastle Competition held on Galveston’s east shores. It is the largest amateur sandcastle competition in the world.
