John Fogerty‘s new album, ‘Wrote a Song for Everyone’ is now available, and it features several big names in from the music world, including Miranda Lambert. While Fogerty is an enthusiastic fan of Lambert’s now, he admits that when he first heard her, had no idea that Miranda was a country superstar, and thought he was discovering a budding talent.

Fogerty, the former frontman for the legendary southern rock band Credence Clearwater Revival told USA Today:

“I first heard Miranda’s voice on the radio, and just was really taken by it, and through a sort of circuitous route, I thought I was the only person discovering her. And eventually, to my own embarrassment, realized all the rest of the world really knew her very well. She’d already won Album of the Year and that sort of thing.”

Fogerty and Lambert were backstage at an awards show when the  asked her to appear on the album. He remembers how he found out she accepted the invitation:

“This was a note that was slipped to her, and I think in the other room I heard her say, ‘Hell yeah!’”

Miranda lends her talents on the album’s title track, along with Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello. For ‘Wrote a Song for Everyone’, Fogerty also enlisted the help of the Zac Brown Band, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban and Alan Jackson.
