John Fogerty Thought He ‘Discovered’ Miranda Lambert, Only to Find Out She Was Already Famous
John Fogerty's new album, 'Wrote a Song for Everyone' is now available, and it features several big names in from the music world, including Miranda Lambert. While Fogerty is an enthusiastic fan of Lambert's now, he admits that when he first heard her, had no idea that Miranda was a country superstar, and thought he was discovering a budding talent.
"I first heard Miranda's voice on the radio, and just was really taken by it, and through a sort of circuitous route, I thought I was the only person discovering her. And eventually, to my own embarrassment, realized all the rest of the world really knew her very well. She'd already won Album of the Year and that sort of thing."
Fogerty and Lambert were backstage at an awards show when the asked her to appear on the album. He remembers how he found out she accepted the invitation:
"This was a note that was slipped to her, and I think in the other room I heard her say, 'Hell yeah!'"
