Stopping by the grocery store on the way home from work is as common as the wind in West Texas. You’d think I’d make a list and get everything I need for a week or two, but that never happens. While on my most recent trip to the store, I overheard a kid in the produce section telling his mom that she was stealing because she ate a grape without paying for it.

I can count multiple times that my dad would “snack” on a grape or two while we were at the store. I’ve seen people grab a strawberry and eat it without even putting a batch of strawberries in their basket. Heck, I’m sure you’ve experienced the same thing once or twice.

What are your thoughts on this? Is it considered stealing to “sample” a grape or other loose food in the grocery store?
