If Texas Seceded From the United States Could We Make it?

In the past few years I've heard a lot of people say that 'Texas should secede from the United States of America'. While those making that comment might have their reasons for wanting Texas to secede, the bigger question is, could Texas make it as it's own stand alone nation?

What I discovered is this very educational video that lends some insight on how Texas might do as a nation. My next question is, would true Texans be happy being the 13th nation behind Spain?
