Animal Shelters across america have been participating in a nationwide campaign throughout the month of august called "Clear the Shelters" in conjunction with Hills Pet Nutrition, NBC and Telemundo television networks. The goal is to reduce the numbers of animals that are in shelters across the United States.

The Abilene Animal Shelter is also participating in the "Clear the Shelter" campaign, by offering all cats and dogs at no cost. That's right, FREE! "Every animal that is currently in the Abilene animal shelter and that is cleared and ready for adoption can be adopted for free" says Mike Bricker, Abilene Animal Services Director.

If you can provide a loving home for these any of these adorable fur babies, then all that is needed to adopt is to be 18 years of age or older and provide a valid form of identification. Each of these adoptions come with updated vaccinations, de-worming, a microchip and a voucher for spay or neuter.

The 'Clear the Shelter' includes all cats, dogs, kittens and puppies as well. Director Bricker says that "because of the pandemic there has been an abnormal amount of animals picked up or turned in to Abilene's animal shelter."

The shelter at 925 South 25th Street in Abilene is overcrowded with the most lovable cats, dogs, kittens, and puppies as seen in the photos below. The Shelter's hours for "Clear the Shelter" are Monday through Saturday from 11 am until 6 pm.

The Abilene Animal Shelter's normal operating hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11 am - 2 pm and 3 pm - 6 pm. The shelter closes between 2 to 3 pm daily to clean and feed. Normally the shelter is not open on Wednesday or Sunday.
