Facebook and Twitter Increase Police Exposure
Law enforcement officials call it “appalling” and an “alarming spike” on law enforcement around the country being attacked, officials are warn that the success of sites such as Facebook and Twitter, make police more vulnerable.
Police have used social medias to identify and investigate criminals, now the criminals are turning the tables on the cops. Criminals use social media sites to identify law enforcement officers, including the “undercover police”. And now, hostage-takers and other criminals monitor the social medias to track police movements and gang members are launching their own surveillance operations targeting the police. Police discovered a DVD inside a suspect’s car, which led Phoenix authorities to issue a “security alert,” telling all law enforcement officers that cops are being “targeted” on Facebook and that posting photographs and other personal information on social media will create serious officer safety issues.
